Temporary traffic barriers used to protect pedestrians from wall
An old, ten-foot high wall in Arbroath, built from a mixture of sandstone rubble and round rocks from the seashore, is causing safety concerns for local residents.
The mortar which was used to build the wall appears to have crumbled and the wall seems to be close to collapsing.
Angus Council have erected temporary barriers along the edge of the pavement to prevent public access to the danger area, with proposals for new safety fencing at the site in the future. For more information on hiring temporary traffic barriers in the UK click here.

North Somerset recycling centre to have road safety barrier installed
A 3.5 metre road barrier is to be erected around Backwell recycling centre in Nailsea, North Somerset in a bid to reduce the amount of noise pollution from the site.
The metal barrier which is expected to cost £60,000, will be 100 metres long and go round part of the site to reduce the noise.
Complaints regarding the noise coming from the tip have been coming from residents for several years.
Sound checks have been carried out at the site by the Environment Agency during the past three years, all of which have revealed noise at excessive levels.

Steel barriers in Sussex to be replaced by temporary traffic barriers
Work has started to replace controversial steel barriers on the Loxwood High Street canal bridge in West Sussex with new brick-faced parapets.
Local residents were un-happy with the original galvanised metal fencing which was installed in 2008 on the bridge, claiming they were more in keeping with the type of fencing which would normally be found around a prison rather than a peaceful village.
After a mounting protest, backed by a petition at a public meeting, members of the canal trust agreed to work with Loxwood Parish Council and the Loxwood Society to find a more acceptable design for the barriers, despite spending £13,500 on the barriers.
Temporary traffic barriers will now be needed before the new brick-faced parapets are installed.

No plans so far to place road traffic barriers on Portsmouth’s most dangerous road
The most dangerous road it is alledged in the Portsmouth catchment area is London Road which also runs through the North End and Hilsea, according to council figures.
There have been 398 alledged road accidents over the past 10 years, meaning that the route tops the list as the city’s worst accident blackspot.
Despite recent safety improvements, the figures are yet to improve, with the road still considered extremely dangerous.
Portsmouth City Council is still to announce its plans to introduce more safety traffic barriers along this route, though discussions are expected regarding safety on the road.

Temporary safety barriers needed for new car park at West Cheshire College
Approval has been sought for almost 200 new car parking spaces at West Cheshire College.
The development, for a five-year period, was proposed on an acre of previously used land at the Regent Street campus by principal Sara Mogel.
Temporary road barriers will be installed whilst the work is on-going.
Planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council were told that the new development would provide 190 spaces.
